Earn Flybe Avios points ….landing on a beach
British carrier Flybe and loyalty programme Avios recently announced that you can now earn Avios points on Flybe flights.
Flybe have an extended European network, which includes flights to the rugged Outer Hebridean island of Barra, in Scotland.
You can currently fly to Barra from Glasgow, starting at £80 return for the 1 hour 10 minute each way flight. Not particularly remarkable, I hear you say. Perhaps not, but do bear in mind that you will be landing on a beach.
Yes, a major European carrier has a beach landing option. Barra (BRR) is in fact the only airport in the world where scheduled flights use a beach as the runway. To add to that, flights need to be scheduled dependent on the tide, as at high tide the “three runways” are under the sea. And Flybe Avios too!
