Double SPG Starpoints (plus 250 point bonus) at restaurants

We have long noted the often excellent value that you can obtain from dining at Starwood hotels’ restaurants as a Starwood Preferred Guest member (free to join, here). Not only will you get a discount of up to 30%, you also earn SPG Starpoints even when you are not a guest at the hotel.

Interestingly, this good deal just got even better, via SPG’s new “Spice It Up” promotion. If you spend US$10 (or local currency equivalent) or more at any of the wide range of over 1400 participating restaurants from 1 May to 31 July 2015, you will earn double SPG Starpoints on your spend (so a bonus 2 SPG Starpoints per $1).

In addition, you will get a further bonus of 250 SPG Starpoints every time you spend $200 or more.

The one slight drawback to this promotion, is you will only earn the bonus points if you are not a guest at the hotel where the restaurant is based. As such, if you have a good quality local Starwood restaurant (I do), this is a great opportunity for a discounted meal out, and some bonus SPG Starpoints.
