Online points-earning website e-miles has teamed up with Hilton HHonors to offer new members (or existing members using a new email address…) 1,000 easy Hilton HHonors points.
In short, e-miles offers you a handful of bonus miles for reading marketing offers and then completing a tiny survey, with literally three or 4 immediate, short questions. You can earn bigger miles by actually signing up to the offers (some of which are free), but there is no obligation whatsoever.
First of all, you may be wondering why I am reviewing a Hampton by Hilton. I hope you have noticed that I generally try and limit my periodic reviews to something a bit different, exclusive or aspirational.
Hampton is the Hilton Group’s budget brand, and you could reasonably argue it’s not exactly the domain of the privileged or points-savvy traveller.
I would, however, firmly counter the latter claim, hence this review. We have recently focused a lot on the truly excellent value that you can get from reward stays at Hilton Category 1 hotels (5,000 points per night) and Category 2 hotels (10,000 points a night).
Always keen to back up my claims with some hard evidence, I took up a recent opportunity to stay at the Hampton by Hilton Gdansk Airport, a Category 2 hotel. In short, I was not disappointed: at 10,000 points, it is an absolute bargain. Here are my thoughts… (more…)
The Hilton “Public Sector Rate” has long been a popular way of getting a 40% discount on Hilton hotel stays in the UK and Europe. It has continued into 2015, but with a reduced discount rate of 33%.
To make use of the rate, you need to enter the Hilton discount code PR11PN when booking on the Hilton website. The discount code theoretically applies only at the weekend, but many Hilton hotels offer it through the week, or where they don’t, you will still benefit from a less generous discount via a “Government/Military Rate” that will automatically apply in its place.
Notably, the rate also includes bed and breakfast.
What is the “public sector” and can I benefit from this rate? (more…)
We recently highlighted the excellent value of stays at Hilton Category 1 hotels, for just 5,000 HHonors points a night. In addition to this, we have long promoted a great value Hilton HHonors Gold fast track challenge.
The even better news is that you can combine these two options, to get Hilton HHonors Gold status and 4 nights at a Hilton-brand hotel – for just 20,000 Hilton points! (more…)
Both Hilton and IHG hotels offer substantial discounts to travel agents, with Hilton extending this to anyone who works for an airline. Notably, the method of booking for both hotel chains is very straightforward and if you are eligible, the savings can be fantastic.
First of all, Hilton offers “up to 50%” off room rates for anyone who works for a travel agency or airline. The great thing about this rate is it is very easily bookable via a standalone page here, and we have found that while availability is limited, it generally offers superb value.
By way of example: (more…)
As with Category 1 hotels, there’s no time limit or other restrictions on these redemptions, save the standard rules on the rooms being subject to reward availability. Year-round, you can get a night at any of the Hilton Category 2 hotels for just 10,000 HHonors points. (more…)
While the recent Europe and Middle East Hilton flash sale has now come and gone, the Hilton Asia Pacific sale continues to offer some fantastic savings.
Mainland China is currently offering 30% off stays, while India hotels are reduced by 20%. The Conrad Macau (Cotai Central) is also discounted by 25%, while the superb Conrad Hong Kong is offering up to 60% off. (more…)
Hilton hotels have long offered what they refer to as a “Gold Medal” rate: a 15% discount on hotels worldwide, to celebrate their support of the US Olympic team.
It also had a similar 20% MVP rate that applied to the Americas and Caribbean has also been amended to a simple link, available here. To benefit from this rate, you simply need to be a member of Hilton HHonors (join for free, here).
The problem with these rates is they historically involved a slightly convoluted corporate rate code, that kept coming and going, and varied depending on the country you were booking the hotel in, or the hotel brand.
The good news is, this has all been hugely simplified. You can now benefit from the 20% discount at Hilton hotels in the Americas/Caribbean by using this link, and the 15% off at Hilton hotels worldwide, simply by using this link (just click on a random sport, and you’ll be taken to the discounted booking rate).
I am often asked what the best value hotel points redemption options are. Two obvious answers are IHG PointBreaks, which arrive with a fanfare every few months, and SPG Category 1/2 weekend stays, which can be extremely low cost.
However, Hilton can easily challenge both of these fantastic redemption options, with their own Category 1 hotel redemptions. Hilton Category 1 is a collection of 46 Hilton-brand hotels worldwide where you can get a reward night for just 5,000 Hilton HHonors points.
There’s no time limit or other restrictions on these redemptions, save the standard rules on the rooms being subject to reward availability. Year-round, you can get a night at any of the Hilton Category 1 hotels for a wonderfully low 5,000 HHonors points. (more…)
A final reminder that the current Hilton “flash sale” ends at midnight GMT tonight. Until then, Hilton are offering up to 33% off over 250 hotels in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
While this is theoretically a “weekends-only” sale, the general user experience with this flash sale (including ours), as seems to so often be the case with Hilton sales, is that the discounted “weekend” rate will apply throughout the week.
As such, if you’re considering a Hilton booking outside of a weekend, you should absolutely see before midnight tonight whether this flash sale can discount your stay. Chances are, it can. (more…)
