Starwood hotels – buy 2 nights get 1 free in Europe/Middle East/Africa

Starwood hotels are currently re-promoting an attractive offer at hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The headline offer is stay two nights, and get the third night free.

More specifically, the free night(s) are structured as follows:

  • Buy 2 nights, Receive 1 Free Night Offer
  • Buy 3 Nights, Receive 1 Free Night Offer
  • Buy 4 Nights, Receive 2 Free Nights Offer

Importantly, to benefit from the discounted offer, you need to pay with Mastercard.

Advance reservations are required, and full pre-payment for all accommodation must be made (using Mastercard).

While the offer is currently live, there are no obvious restrictions on dates (although it is subject to availability), so it appears to be a case of just searching for availability of the dates that suit you. Rooms on offer are limited, so you may have to be flexible in your search. At the risk of stating the obvious, make sure you search for the number of nights including the free night (e.g. 3 nights for the 2 + 1 free), or the offer will not show up.

Taking the random example of Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi, a three night stay would ordinarily cost you 1800 AED (€444), so under the offer the three nights will cost 1200 AED (€296), a saving of €49 per night:

Finally, a reminder that you have until 31 March 2015 to get the following perks on Starwood hotels in Asia:

  • Additional 10% off best available rate
  • Complimentary breakfast for 2
  • Late check-out

Again, you need to pay with Mastercard to benefit.

This doesn’t seem to work. It says:

The promotion code you requested is invalid. Please see lowest rates below.

It’s a strange way for Starwood to do it, but that means there’s no availability. The offer will work when you find a hotel with availability (which, sadly, is simply a case of searching).
