Lufthansa – half price reward flights to the US, Asia and more
On the face of it, Miles&More is a pretty poor frequent flyer scheme. The miles are relatively difficult to earn, and the tax on redemptions is punitive. So, for value travel, special offers on Lufthansa’s redemptions are essential.
Every month, your knight in shining armour on this point is called meilenschnaeppchen (or “mileage bargains”).
This is Lufthansa’s regular promotion on redemption of Miles&More miles, which generally offers approximately 50% off the miles needed for redemption flights. Crucially, these aren’t just tempter offers with no substance: we have checked and confirmed wide availability, and have given screenshot examples of available heavily discounted reward flights below.
Examples of current standout “good bargain for miles” (with booking availability screenshots) are as follows (all are return flights in Business Class):
Dusseldorf – Chicago Business Class
- 55,000 miles instead of 105,000
- Travel: 01.02.2015 – 25.03.2015
Berlin – Tegel, Dusseldorf and more to Dallas/Fort Worth Business Class

There is also a wide selection of these offers available in Economy, but given Lufthansa’s hefty taxes, even with a heavy discount in the miles required for the redemption, there are of questionable value. Nevertheless, you can view the full offering here or click here to see a summary.
Technically you need to book by 30 November, per the terms detailed above. However, rest assure that when this meilenschnaeppchen is over, another one will be along.
Importantly, you do not have to depart from Germany. Just select your country of departure on this link to see the available offer, as follows:
