Istanbul – bargain long weekends at the brand new Hilton
Business Traveller magazine recently ran a feature on the brand new Hilton Bomonti, Istanbul’s largest hotel.
Ever on the hunt for a travel bargain, it occurred to me that a stay at this impressive new hotel could be combined with generally competitive introductory prices, the Hilton “Any Weekend Anywhere” sale (book before Jan 31, for weekends throughout 2014) and the Air Malta “50% off flights to Istanbul sale (book before Jan 31, valid on flights until 31 March).
The results were pretty good…
I found a long weekend in mid-March with the following prices:
- Air Malta return from Malta to Istanbul for €99.73 per person (out Thurs 6 March, return Mon 10 March). (I am amazed that this sub-€100 rate is still available, so late into Air Malta’s “50% off” promotion.)
- The Hilton Bomonti at €95 (or €40 plus 16,000 HHonors points) a night for two people, for those 4 nights.
Discounted rates are available on other dates, of course (with the cash rate for the Hilton Bomonti sometimes going down to as low as €65 a night), but the availability of the extra-cheap fares on Air Malta is of course becoming more and more limited.
If you fancy a weekend in Istanbul, with heavily discounted prices on both your flights and your stay at a brand new, five star hotel, then you could do a lot worse.
