€2 off taxi trips for all Maltapoints readers

A new cab service recently launched in Malta, called Hicabs (www.hicabs.com.mt).

The set up is fairly straightforward: you book online (enter in your journey details on the homepage, and you’ll get an instant quote), via email (info@hicabs.com.mt) or by calling 21372137.

If you choose to use Hicabs, it’s well worth visiting the website, as it’s a very user-friendly set-up, and the instant quote is a good feature.

Prices are pretty competitive, with some examples from the airport as follows:

  • Sliema/St Julians €19 (compared to €20 at the airport fixed price)
  • Bugibba €23 (compared to €25)
  • Cirkewwa (Gozo ferry) €32 (same as airport fixed price).

That said, if you are travelling from the airport, take note that some of the Hicabs fares are higher than the airport fixed price (e.g. Paola, Safi and Pieta), so you should do a comparison.

One obvious advantage of Hicabs is using them over a white cab plucked from the street, where you can get royally fleeced (they are not subject to the airport fixed price, even when travelling to the airport, and have been known not to use meters…)

One final bit of good news: Hicabs are offering Maltapoints readers €2 off all journeys (so the Hicabs prices quoted above become €2 cheaper: e.g. €17 from Sliema to the airport). You simply need to mention Maltapoints when ordering, and to your driver when paying. If you want to use this offer, do not pay online, as your discount will not be applied: you need to pay the reduced rate to the driver.

It is of course worth me mentioning that Maltapoints has no stake in Hicabs, and we don’t get a cut of any of this!
