British Airways returning to Malta

We are delighted to report that British Airways has just announced that it is to resume flights to Malta.

From March 30 2014, British Airways will fly a daily service (either by Boeing 737, Airbus A319 or A320) directly between Gatwick and Malta.

This is a very welcome addition to the Malta-London route, which in addition to offering another premium service direct to London, really should put downwards pressure on Malta-London prices.

Inportantly, it also gives the Malta frequent traveller access to the wonderful world of Avios points, and the plethora of collection and redemption possibilities that they bring (although, lest we forget, Avios points are currently redeemable on Air Malta: it’s just more or less impossible to collect any here).

Much more on this to come in due course…

  1. I booked flights with Air Malta for May 14. It now turns out that BA are much cheaper than Air Malta for flights on the same dates in spite of the fact that the Air Malta fares were discounted by 25%.

    1. Yes that’s interesting Edward. Call me a cynic, but it may be that the Air Malta sale was deliberately timed to beat BA to the punch (i.e. get people to sign up to flights with Air Malta – London is of course their principal route – before they knew BA was an option).
