Impressive Virtu Ferries special offer – inc. December long weekend

Virtu Ferries gets its fair share of negative press on Maltapoints, not least given its sky-high prices and questionable published journey times. However, ignoring these downsides, it is an extremely pleasant way to get to the wonderful Sicily: with the added benefit of having your car over there with you.

The good news is that up until 30 April 2014, you can travel on a “special” 4 day return costing €69 per adult passenger, and €77 per car. That takes the price for two adults plus car to a reasonable (if not spectacular, given it is very much the off-season) €215. VF prices can go up to as high as €146 return per passenger, and €189 return for a car, so this compares pretty well.

For whatever reason, this “special offer” was being advertised as applicable to the 13 December long weekend, but the prices do apply to all journeys up to 30 April 2014.

It is always worth checking the prices of a flight plus car hire before committing to a Virtu Ferries booking, but at these prices, not least given the convenience factor, it may well be worth it. Pozzallo is also very well located for many of Sicily’s highlights.
