The 132 Hilton hotels that cost just 10,000 points per night
We wrote last week about Hilton Category 1 hotels – 46 Hilton-brand hotels worldwide where you can get a reward night for just 5,000 Hilton HHonors points.
Taking this to the next stage, Hilton Category 2 is a collection of 132 Hilton-brand hotels worldwide where you can get a reward night for a similarly impressive 10,000 Hilton HHonors points.
As with Category 1 hotels, there’s no time limit or other restrictions on these redemptions, save the standard rules on the rooms being subject to reward availability. Year-round, you can get a night at any of the Hilton Category 2 hotels for just 10,000 HHonors points.
So where are these hotels?
The full list is available here, and you can narrow it down by country (or US state: and there is a large selection of US properties at the Category 2 level). Some highlights include:
- DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Agra, India (for the Taj Mahal)(cash price on Tuesday 12 May: US$73)
- Hampton Inn Dallas-Addison, USA (example cash price on the random date of Tuesday 12 May: US$109)
- Hilton Garden Inn Krakow Airport, Poland (cash price on Tuesday 12 May: €73)
- DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Beijing, China (cash price on Tuesday 12 May: US$160)
- Ramses Hilton Cairo, Egypt (cash price on Tuesday 12 May: US$145)
- Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi, Vietnam (cash price on Tuesday 12 May: US$75)
- DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (cash price on Tuesday 12 May: US$112)

Bear in mind that Hilton Gold members (get fast-track here) will get breakfast for free, so you’re getting a night and breakfast for the 10,000 points. Plus, a lot of the Category 2 hotels are Hampton by Hiltons, which include free breakfast for everyone, even on reward stays.
If you’re looking for Hilton bargains, don’t forget that we also list all applicable Hilton Promo codes, which includes discounts of up to 40%, on our dedicated page here.
Are you sure about the breakfast thing? I don’t think that Hamptons and Doubtrees necessarily follow the same rules as Hiltons when it comes to elite perks. In fact there is a different selection in your profile for each brand.
I know that there have been some issues with Golds and Plats at the Doubletree Heathrow (the older one, Bath road). There was a “free” breakfast, but cooked items were not included.
Technically it’s a free “continental” breakfast for Golds at all Hilton properties where breakfast is an elite perk (save for Hilton Garden Inn, where it’s a “hot, cooked to order” breakfast):
Conrad® Hotels & Resorts, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton™
1,000 HHonors Bonus Points per stay or a complimentary continental breakfast for you and up to one additional guest registered to the same room each day of your stay
However, save for once in London some time ago, this continental breakfast (which is not a term Hilton have defined) has always been full breakfast buffet access for me. Another option if you’re upgraded to (or otherwise in) the exec lounge is to take the bonus 1k points, and then just have breakfast in the lounge, as I have been permitted to do on occasion.
Hampton everyone is clear for, as all stays include a hot breakfast (i.e. it’s not an elite perk). That’s why the 5k or 10k points redemption is such great value, particularly if you don’t have status.
I’m actually at the Hampton Gdansk airport on Friday night, long story…
Living the high life, eh? Somewhat different from your HK trip.
I’m back to Malta on Friday, but I currently have 3 Hilton bookings due in the next 2.5 weeks. I’ve gone from being a Diamond in 2013 to having 0 stays (but a couple of redemptions at Portomasso) in 2014. My bonus gift from Hilton was an offer to retain Diamond if I make 4 stays by the end of April. I think this is probably worth doing, as I am unsure if Hilton offer a soft landing to Gold if I don’t. I only need to arrange one matress run anyway.
