Urgent – All Air Malta reward flights half price
We have just received some very welcome news from Air Malta.
Up to 30 April 2014 (and subject to terms and conditions – see below) all Air Malta reward flights (i.e. flights “bought” with Flypass KMiles), whether business or economy, single or return, require half the normal number of points (KMiles) to redeem.
To be clear, you need to both book the flight before 30 April 2014 and travel before 30 April 2014.
This offer applies to flights both to and from Malta.
Accordingly, the revised redemption table is as follows:
From/to Malta for travel until 30 April 2014

This is an excellent way to redeem your KMiles. Flypass has often come in for a lot of (fairly justified) criticism as to the number of points required for redemptions. This half price sale makes redemption levels much more palatable. For example, a business class return to Moscow at 45,000 KMiles is excellent value, while Heathrow/Gatwick goes down to 25,000 KMiles economy return, and just 42,500 KMiles business return.
One key point to bear in mind is that flights are subject to availability, and you will have to pay applicable fees and taxes.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE a rather major drawback in the terms and conditions, as follows:
- Black out period: all routes 13th – 27th April 2014, and UK routes 16th – 20th February 2014.
Accordingly, this offer is totally unavailable for a fairly substantial part of the offer period. As such, we have produced the table below to confirm when you can book the half price reward flights:
Dates | Half price flight redemptions |
13 February – 15 February 2014 | All flight redemptions half price |
16 February – 20 February 2014 | All flight redemptions half price except UK flights |
21 February – 12 April 2014 | All flight redemptions half price |
13 April – 27 April 2014 | No flight redemptions half price |
28 April – 30 April 2014 | All flight redemptions half price |
One interesting interpretation of this promotion is that it may be a method by which Air Malta is seeking to reduce people’s point stashes before it moves to a new frequent flyer scheme. While we would expect any new scheme to be substantially more generous and flexible than the current Flypass, this half price offer is still very good value, particularly on the business class flights. I would not hesitate to make a redemption based on these rates.
