The details are scarce, but Air Malta has cryptically hinted that it is set to relaunch its much-maligned frequent flyer scheme, Flypass.
So what do we know?
Well, not a great deal to be honest. What we do know about the existing scheme is it’s poor value, cumbersome to book and very limited in its options. So, any change is likely to be a welcome one.
However, information on the potential changes are rather thin on the ground.
The emailed communication from Air Malta Flypass is interesting, but limited in its detail, to say the least:
Needless to say, we’ll keep you posted on developments…
Air Malta has launched a 24 hour sale for today only, 20 May 2015. You need to book by midnight CET+1, and the discounted fares apply to flights taken in June 2015.
As is often the case with Air Malta sales, the discounted prices are fairly hit and miss, so if you’re considering a flight in June, it’s worth a good online search.
Headline one-way prices are as follows: (more…)
The Times of Malta has spent the last few days speculating heavily on the likelihood of a “strategic alliance” between Air Malta and Turkish Airlines. Given that the two airlines already codeshare, the most likely end result of these talks is Turkish Airlines taking a stake in air Malta.
Quite how much of a stake this is, remains to be seen. The Times of Malta reported that an Air Malta “company source” told them that “the government is currently leaving all its options open and is not excluding anything. Discussions range from a strategic partnership to full takeover of Air Malta.”
In an interesting further development, Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat then confirmed yesterday that Air Malta is considering a strategic partnership with another airline, although he would not elaborate on the nature of the partnership, nor the airline. However, you can rest fairly assured it is Turkish Airlines.
What would Turkish Airlines investment mean? (more…)
Air Malta has extended its offer of a free return flight to Sicily (Catania) when you book any Air Malta flight to/from Malta (travelling in June 2015): the offer now expires at 20:00 (CET+1) on 15 May.
Plus, an additional 100 free return tickets will indeed be totally free, including all fees and taxes. All other “free” flights to Catania will require payment of these charges. These 100 tickets will obviously be on a first-come-first-served basis.
We reviewed this promotion, and how to use it effectively, in some detail last week.
Air Malta has just released details of an interesting promotion. Book an Air Malta flight to/from Malta (travelling in June 2015) by 11:59 CET+1 on 12 May and you will also get a free return ticket between Malta and Catania (Sicily), also for travel in June.
What’s more, the first 100 free Catania tickets will indeed be totally free, including all fees and taxes. All other “free” flights to Catania will require payment of these charges.
This is actually quite a clever promotion, and could work very well for you. (more…)
Air Malta’s frequent flyer programme, Flypass, has just announced a 50% discount on the miles needed for all reward flights taken in June 2015.
You can book flights anytime from now until 30 June, provided that all your travel is completed within the month of June.
The 50% miles reduction applies to both Economy and Business Class flights, and makes for some reasonably attractive reward flights, as follows: (more…)
Air Malta has commenced a 24 hour sale on flights between Malta and Germany, with single flights available at €44, and returns available at €81 all-in.
The sale applies to flights to/from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich. You need to book by midnight (Central European Time) today (21 April) and can fly up to mid-July, 2015.
Following on from its impressive, if extremely limited in availability, €44 one way flash sales to its various European destinations, Air Malta is today offering €44 fares between Malta and Italy.
The included destinations are Catania, Milan, Rome and Venice.
Given Malta’s proximity to Italy, this is far from the most generous offer. However, if you can find the €44 fare, then it’s a very competitive price to pay. That said, and at the risk of causing offence in some quarters, I’d compare it to those fares available on the budget airlines, too… (more…)
Following the apparent success of last Monday’s flash sale, Air Malta is repeating it’s 24 hour €44 fare promotion.
The sale involves all flights on the Air Malta network being offered at a starting price of €44. While that is heavily subject to availability (and you may need to move fast), clearly there are bargains available.
An €88 return from London to Malta, for example, is an excellent deal (not least because, if you’re comparing this to the budget airlines, you get a 20kg baggage allowance included).
You have until midnight tonight Malta time (11.00pm CET), and you need to travel by 31 May 2015. (more…)
Air Malta has joined the “flash sale” bandwagon, offering seats on its entire flight network (excluding Catania, Algiers and Djerba) from just €44 one way until midnight CET today (23 March 2015).
The discounted “flash sale” fare applies to flights taken in April, May and June 2015.
Obviously the value of the €44 fare will depend on the route in question. It’s nothing special for Malta to Rome, but bag it for a London to Malta route, for example, and you’ve got yourself a bargain. (more…)
