Ryanair introduces “business class”
Of sorts. Ryanair has just announced the launch of a new “Business Plus” option.
It’s basically a combination of all the current perks you can purchase with Ryanair, with a 20kg baggage allowance and an incredibly flexible ticket (unlimited free flight changes, including on the day of travel).
Full benefits are as follows:
- Flexibility on ticket changes*
- Unlimited flight changes
- Free changes on the day of travel
- 20kg baggage allowance
- Fast track airport security**
- Priority boarding
- Guaranteed cabin bag on board
- Choose your premium seat*
*Subject to availability
**Selected airports apply – Barcelona El Prat, Brussels Charleroi, Dublin, East Midlands, Liverpool, London Stansted, Manchester, Milan Bergamo
So don’t expect lounge access, champagne on arrival, reclining seats, gourmet food (or even the flight attendants to be nice to you). However, for those of you that understandably loathe the succession of extra charges imposed by Ryanair, this is a great way of seeing an instant price that includes all the standard add-ons (and in many cases more) that you would get with a non-budget airline.
Fares start at €69.99 each way. As an example, Malta to London Luton is €45.99 “no-frills” each way in October 2014, €99.99 each way in Business Plus.
If you need 20kg of luggage and reserved seats, for example, it is well worth comparing the Business Plus fare with the fully loaded-up ordinary fare. If there’s a chance you may need to change your flight, it’s almost certainly the most sensible option.
(We appreciate that is now two Ryanair posts in a row. We apologise unreservedly, and hope it won’t happen again.)
