Starwood Hotels – double, triple or 3000 Etihad Guest miles
Starwood Hotels and Etihad Airways are currently offering a bonus haul of miles with Etihad’s frequent flyer scheme, Etihad Guest, when you stay at Starwood hotels.
Those Etihad Guest members with their Starwood earning preference set to Etihad Guest miles will currently earn double miles on standard rooms, triple miles on club rooms and 3,000 miles on suites.
As such, outside of the 3,000 flat award for suites, SPG preferred members will earn 4 (double) or 6 (triple) Etihad Guest Miles per eligible US dollar 1 spent and Elite Gold and Platinum members earn 5 (double) or 7 (triple) Etihad Guest Miles per eligible US dollar spent.
There does not appear to be any registration requirement for this offer: it will apply to all those who choose to earn Etihad Guest miles (as opposed to SPG Starpoints) at Starwood hotels.
Bear in mind that if you choose to earn SPG Starpoints, rather than Etihad Guest miles, you can then elect to transfer them into a variety of airline miles (including, obviously, Etihad Guest) at a 1:1 ratio. However, you will obviously not benefit from the double miles bonus for Etihad Guest set out above. So, if you intend to exchange your SPG Starpoints for Etihad Guest miles, you are better off taking the double/triple miles offer set out above on your Starwood hotel stays.
The full terms and conditions are available here. It is really not clear to me when this offer ends.
Etihad Airways flyers should have a look at our page dedicated to Etihad discount deals, here.

You can earn 3000 points as long as you book a suite in certain countries, and then you can redeem those points to whatever airlines including Etihad, and 5000 miles more for 20000 points, so there is no need to switch earning preference to Etihad miles.
