It’s that time of the week again. Every Wednesday by 11.00 am GMT, Starwood Hotels releases its “Hot Escapes” list: a selection of heavily discounted Starwood hotels rates worldwide. You can book up until Saturday, for stays within the next 6 weeks.
Importantly, you get an additional 5% off the already reduced rate if you are a member of SPG, Starwood Hotels’ loyalty programme. Given that this is free to join, everyone can benefit instantly from the additional saving.
The full list of today’s currently discounted SPG Hot Escapes properties is available here. You’ll note there’s a heavy focus on US and Asia Pacific properties, although there is a sprinkling of European properties, including three in the UK.
Some highlights include (with additional 5% discount applied): (more…)
UK loyalty programme Nectar, which (amongst many other things) you can earn and spend on easyJet flights, is currently offering two sets of 100 free points.
The first 100 free points are for simply letting them know the renewal dates on your insurance, which you can do here.
Embattled private car operator Addison Lee is once again on the offensive against the fierce competition from Uber et al, offering another round of £10 off 4 journeys in London.
You can claim this £10 off journeys between 7pm and 5am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, from now until 13 April 2015. To benefit, you simply need to use the promotional code NIGHT10 when booking with their new app, or on their website.
The promotional code can be used a maximum of 4 times and when booking with card, cash or Paypal. (more…)
It’s Friday, so what better way to spend your time than by browsing through a travel-related charity auction. Not only is it for some great causes, but there are also some potential bargains to be had.
The auction is being run by Luxury Travel Diary, but the proceeds will benefit UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Julia’s House, a UK children’s hospice. More details on the charities are available here.
The auction lots are varied and interesting, and include a huge number of worldwide hotel nights, many of which are currently at bargain prices. Perhaps the most exciting lot, however, is a round trip by private jet from New York to California! (more…)
Joining Uber, Kabbee, Hailo etc is the new interactive taxi booking service minicabit.
Minicabit represents a UK-wide network of licensed cab operators. Using minicabit’s website and mobile app, visitors can instantly compare cab quotes and book trips to, from or within 40 cities across the UK. (more…)
There are various obvious options for earning airline miles with hotels, like Hilton, Starwood and Hyatt. However, I am often surprised by the number of hotels at which airline points can be picked up.
A relatively recent discovery here, which I have not previously mentioned, was little-known hotel collective “Worldhotels”. Worldhotels is an “exclusive” group of nearly 500 independent high-end hotels in 65 countries across the world.
You can earn airline miles on stays at Worldhotels with 25 airlines, at a rate of 500 miles per stay. Partners include AAdvantage, Avios (via Iberia Plus), Miles&More and Flying Blue. (more…)
As a frequent flyer blog on BoardingArea, we pick up various freebies, promos, things-we-have-no-idea-exactly-what-they-are etc. Rather than let these build up in a cupboard somewhere, or be obliterated/eaten by one of my toddlers, I have decided to share them with you, our wonderful readers, in a mildly “Vegas” way.
Starting from today, we will be diligently collecting all these freebies, carefully hiding them from my offspring, and adding them to our “euflyer.com progressive jackpot“. The jackpot will pay out in three months time, at 10.00am CET on on 12 June 2015.
How do I enter?
It’s very simple. Every time you comment on an euflyer.com post, whether on this one or any other, you will get one entry into the euflyer.com progressive jackpot. The more comments you make, the more entries you will get. The only rules here are that only one comment per euflyer.com post will count, and unless it is on this post (where it can be as mindless as you like), it will need to have some sort of point/relevance to it (although don’t worry, we’ll be pretty loose in interpreting that …)
So what’s in there right now?
As things stand, we’ve got: (more…)
PartnerPlusBenefit is a Lufthansa-driven travel incentive programme for businesses that purchase airline tickets in the UK or Ireland.
In short, it’s a way for businesses to earn reward points when their employees travel with 10 different airlines (see below), in addition to the standard frequent flyer miles the individual employee earns anyway. The business can then redeem these points for various benefits, including upgrades, Heathrow Express tickets and even cash.
Starting today, mega-discount behemoth Groupon is offering a very interesting additional 15% discount on its “Getaways”: essentially a collection of worldwide hotels at substantially reduced prices.
The 15% discount is in addition to whatever the hotel in question is already reduced by, and to benefit from it you simply need to use the Groupon promo code EPIC15. The offer runs until the end of 28 February 2015. (more…)
Online bonus miles hotel booking service Rocketmiles is currently running two promotions concurrently. One offers 3000 bonus Avios on any hotel booking, while the other offers 5000 bonus Etihad Guest miles on any booking.
You don’t need to be particularly advanced in your mathematics to work out that the Etihad Guest offer is more generous, but which offer works best for you will of course depend on your mileage preference. (more…)
